Indian Fashion – an evergreen yet, ever-moving saga!

Since the medieval ages, Indian wear has been considered to be the most sensual and attractive of any kind. Indian fashion has always had the philosophy of covering most, but showing off or giving a little bit of a sneak peak of a specific part of the body. For instance, take kurtas, kurtis, embroidered tops , saree blouse or any other such piece of an Indian woman’s attire, you will find a perhaps (for exemplification sake) a full sleeve saree blouse with a short blouse, or a blouse with a deep back cut which would make it look almost backless – giving it a subtle sensual as well as elegant look. Such Indian dresses have never failed to make an impact on people who admire fashion and style.

The best part about Indian wear is that not only is it attractive to look at, but at the same time it is extremely comfortable to wear and easy to carry off. It is easy to carry because of its Native cum universal look – which makes it stand out as Indian, yet at a social gathering, it looks very different and eye catchy. In this context, it will not be wrong to say that most of the foreigners staying in India do outdo the natives in wearing Indian attire.

Many Hollywood actresses have donned an Indian saree at the Oscars, or a general social/Cocktail parties as well. They have been a source of headlines and head turners each and every time a woman has worn them. After all, Indian wear does truly celebrate the essence and character of womanhood very subtly and effectively.

Also, it is not that Indian fashion is very stagnant and has limited kinds of looks. Indian fashion, as a matter of fact, has evolved with ages, and one can choose from so much of styles. For instance, with a kurta one can wear either churidaars, plain salwaars, Patiala salwaars or even straight pants (the straight pants give it more of a Fusion look emphasizing more on the semi-western look) or whichever way one feels comfortable with – leaving this space open for experiment.

The classical ‘ghaghra-chooli’s’ ghagra has now been evolved in a very subtle form of Indian skirts – which lack the heavy work of a ghaghra – but are skirts (long or short) with subtle or heavy designs suited to wear according to one’s personality.

So go ahead, make your own style!
